The Women of the 2010 CrossFit Games. That’s what this video is called.

It should probably just be called: People who are fitter than you.

Check out this three and a half minute clip showing the world what fitness can look like in women who don’t just think that skinny = sexy.

As many CrossFit shirts, and posted articles around the world have said: Strong is the new sexy.

I know a lot of you are planning on registering for the 2011 CrossFit Games Open. Whether you plan on competing as an individual, or on a team, every single athlete must register themselves for the Games! Make sure you get that taken care of soon.

I pasted the entire announcement from the official CrossFit Games website below, but click here and check out the site yourself if you’d like. Don’t put off registration any more. Do it!

“Many CrossFit affiliates are asking their members to register to perform Open workouts at their gyms. We are glad that so many affiliates have taken the initiative to host Open workouts in their own way.

Unfortunately, some athletes are confused about the registration process. Registering at your Affiliate DOES NOT register you as an individual athlete to compete in the Games. If you wish for your scores to count in the competition, and to be eligible to qualify for Regionals, you must register as an Athlete on the Site. No registration anywhere else will make you exempt from this requirement.

Affiliate owners, it is your job to make sure that your athletes understand the process for competing in the Open. Please clarify to them that they must register here if they wish to participate in the Open. We don’t want anyone to miss out on the Open because they misunderstood the registration process.”

Hey guys and gals….

Over the next few years, I’m pretty confident saying that things are going to get real. Something tells me Ring Handstand Push-Ups were just the beginning!

In the words of Wayne and Garth:
“Game On!!!”

If you don’t know… now you know! 🙂

Hello CrossFit World!

Even as I sit and THINK about this post to write, my heart rate is already racing. We are less than 10 days away from the 2011 CrossFit Games Open, the 6-week qualifying rounds for the 2011 CrossFit Games! So many of us are anxious for March 15 when they announce what the first of the 6 workouts will be, and even though it won’t do us any good, many of us are going through our brains, imagining what these workouts will be!

The most common “prediction” I’ve heard, is that since the 6-week challenge can be done from anywhere in the world, that the first few workouts will be classic CrossFit Workouts. I’ve heard the “Girls” and the “Hero” WODs are probably most common, along with maybe some 1, 3 or 5 rep maxes for specific lifts so it’s easiest to judge.

What do you think the workouts are going to be, and why? Let’s hear those predictions!

We’re 10 days away from the CrossFit Games Open, which begin on March 15th!!!
My buddy Jack knows I love inspirational speeches, so he sent me this video.

Get pumped, people!!! It’s almost game time!

Many of you may be new to CrossFit and may not know what exactly the CrossFit Games are, and what they represent in this community of ours.

In two phrases, the Games are the “world’s proving grounds for elite fitness. The men and women competing (there) have legitimate claim to the title Fittest Men and Women on Earth.” ~Greg Glassman, CrossFit Founder. Yeah, they’re a big deal!

Check out this incredible video that recaps last year’s event, and explains what exactly “The Games” are all about.

CrossFit Founder Greg Glassman took some time to speak with several people last week and share more information as to how the 2011 Sectional Qualifiers will look. He also shared his opinion as to why he thinks his “Open” structure (where literally anyone from anywhere in the world will be able to submit their times for the workouts) will work just fine.

Gym owners and athletes have surely been wondering how crazy these workouts are going to be for the athletes. Here’s a quote directly from Glassman:
“So I would expect that first round to have a very classic “CrossFit” flavor to it.”

Then he gives a clue that it will likely be at the next round of qualifiers, one of the 17 Regional Competitions around the planet, where he would expect there to be an “urge to get outside of the box.” Glassman jokes that we could expect “moats and alligators,” and everyone laughs. Let’s be honest, though… is it really even a joke? I wouldn’t put it past those guys!

Several times during the video (which can be seen here) he reiterates the two goals of this type of event (the Open Sectionals).

1- “To find, mine, develop, watch and point to the world’s fittest man and the world’s fittest woman.”
2- “… and along the way, we want the process to be as inclusive as possible. So even those that feel like they don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell, will play… to maximize participation.”

Here’s the entire post on the CrossFit Games’ web site! March will be here before we know it, guys and gals!

The first announcement, of what will surely be many in the coming weeks, has been released!

From the CrossFit Games website comes the following news:

“The CrossFit Games Open is a six-week competition that will begin Tuesday, March 15th at 17:00 PDT. This competition is the first step in qualifying for the 2011 CrossFit Games. Each week, one event will be announced each Tuesday, and everyone has until the following Sunday at 17:00 PDT to complete the event and record their scores.”

There are two ways that people will be allowed to qualify:
1. Compete at a Registered Affiliate: Attend a workout session at a registered affiliate and submit your score for the affiliate to validate.

2. Compete Anywhere: Perform the workout as prescribed anywhere you can or want, and videotape it. Submit your score and upload your video.

It’s crazy to most CrossFitters to imagine how they’re going to organize, validate and report back on what could be hundreds of thousands of entries from around the entire planet, but I’m sure they’ll find a way!

I’ll keep you posted, as always, when more information is released. Until then, keep training…..
