This one was just weird! I was at the gym with Orion and Greg yesterday, and they told me about this video they had seen on YouTube of “some guy who deadlifted, like, a thousand pounds.” They told me how fired up he got and how incredible it looked to watch that much weight come off of the ground.

A few hours later, I got an email from my friend Rachel who “Recommended” I watch a video. Which video was this?! A video of some dude deadlifting over 1,000 pounds! Check. This. Out.

Are you kidding me?!

Ok, ok…… I know what you’re thinking! “Of course he pulled 1,100 pounds. He used wrist wraps! Anyone can do that with straps!”

Agreed!!! I bet his RAW Deadlift is only 450 or something. OR IS IT!?!?!
1,015 Pounds. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!

There are some strong people that work out at CrossFit Lakewood. Greg and Orion are two of those people.

Check out their Strength Training for today, both reaching HUGE PR’s on their 1-Rep Max Front Squats….

At 305 pounds!!

CrossFit may have a lot of intimidating men and women lifting weights and screaming while they do it…. but if you want to see pure happiness, watch Greg when he learns how much weight he just Front-Squatted!! I love this stuff!

Epic Win. Great video.

“BREATHE” from Paul Schneider on Vimeo.

Well, we’ve been gone for a minute, and it’s time to start getting caught up.
No better way than with this video.

Did you have a rough day? Here… cheer up and get inspired.
The last guy is my favorite!

Yesterday I asked my buddy Jack (founder of the ApresPowder.com blog) if he could post one more sweet powder ski/snowboarding movie since my season is over! He said he would look into it, but that he was excited to start throwing some mountain biking videos for the summer time.

Well, Kristin posted this video on Clayton’s wall (since Clayton rides) a while back, and it is awesome!! Then I remembered another awesome video that one of Clayton’s friends shared with him.

GET READY FOR YOUR FRIDAY DOUBLE-DOSE OF AWESOMENESS!!

Have a great weekend, guys!

Ben Sappey has been CrossFitting with us for just over two months (give or take). About a week and a half ago, he came into the gym for a Sunday Funday class, having injured his thumb that day doing some skiing and Breckenridge. It turns out that the injury was more severe than he thought.

He broke it.

This was a bummer to hear, because most of the time a broken thumb means time away from CrossFit, but not with Ben. He has been coming in regularly, and I’ve just been making adjustments to the workouts that Ben can accommodate with his injury. Why? Because CrossFit is “Universally Scalable.” He came in the first few days with a splint, then the next few with a cast (which he broke in the first few days of having). So today was Ben’s first day with this NEW cast. Watch the videos below, and you’ll see why this latest cast is a little different than most! Ben, you are awesome 🙂

He can row with a broken thumb and a cast!

He can jump rope with a broken thumb and a cast!

He can even TALK with a broken thumb and a cast!

Basically, Ben is the man!

I almost made this post in my “The Pursuit of Paleo” series of videos, but for all of you literal literalsons out there, I know you can’t take a joke. Instead, it’s the MOMENT OF AWESOMENESS!!!

Look at these guys at “Epic Meal Time“, bask in the glory of their awesomeness, and do not… under any circumstances… try this at home.

Most amazing quote of any YouTube Video:
“That’s the burger base Baconator layer, player!”

Wow.

Pure talent.

Many friends and athletes I know have read the book “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall. It discusses the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico’s Copper Canyons, a tribe that is known to run hundreds of miles at a time. Often. Yeah… their “record” is some guy running over 430 miles STRAIGHT in just over two days.

I bought the book a while ago, but have not read it yet (since it’s a few back on my queue). It’s definitely on the list, though! This morning, the amazing Katie “Harry” Harris posted this video link on her facebook wall, and I took the 10 minutes to watch their story.

Pretty incredible! Enjoy. (Thanks, Harry!)

For those of you who have been watching Post-Season NBA, you may have heard a familiar word come out of the mouth of Sir Charles Barley: CrossFit.

I would LOVE to see his adventures in CF, and hope they keep talking about it over the course of the playoffs. The word is getting out, ladies and gents. CrossFit is continuing to grow in popularity!

How many of you think he’ll stick with it?
