I can’t think of a better resource to convince someone to start CrossFit.

Will you guys pass this onto your friends, please? Let’s spread the word!
(Thanks for CrossFit South Bay for the share on FB)

A buddy of mine from work shared this video with me, and I absolutely LOVE it.

If I had the money, the time, or the guts, I would ABSOLUTELY do this! (Yep. Three excuses. That’s when you KNOW it’s high on the “Bucket” list. It sounds TOO fun and life changing to even consider doing right now.)

Time to build up that confidence!

CrossFit, as a fitness program and a sport, continues to create a buzz! This time, a CrossFit competition is held between NBA Stars Jameer Nelson and Jason Terry. The two compete in a CF Event, while each of them have a celebrity partner. One is comedian Bill Bellamy, while the other is rapper Jadakiss. Nothing like a friendly little wager to add a little fun to the NBA season for these two guys. Good stuff!

Here’s the official “Video Description” from the page:
“Jason Terry and Jadakiss team up against Jameer Nelson and Bill Bellamy for the Crossfit FaceOFF. Comedian Anthony Anderson lends his commentary as the event’s emcee. If Jason Terry loses, he must put his superstitions aside, playing a game without his signature headband and socks. If Jameer Nelson loses, he must wear Jason Terry’s sweaty socks and headband when the Mavericks play the Magic!”

“Hope springs eternal…”

Alexander Pope wrote that in 1734 in his work “An Essay on Man.”

On this first day of Spring, I felt that was a pretty uplifting quote. Without really getting into the philosophical side of that quote or the piece, the way I understand it’s intended meaning is this:

No matter what happens, or what cards life deals us, we as a species are positive creatures and will continue to HOPE and believe. To me, that is a powerful thought and message. Did you get knocked down? Get back up and try again. Did you fail at something? Give it another go and don’t give up.

What if your goal was to fly? No in a plane… with your arms! Jarno Smeets, a mechanical engineer from the Netherlands, had this dream. I’m sure there were many many failed attempts. These guys kept trying. NOW HE CAN FLY!

Happy Tuesday, Happy Spring, and Happy Hope! Some have said humans will never fly like birds… these guys beg to differ.

I don’t know how to ride a motorcycle. Jason Britton does. He’s kind of good at it, too.

I really liked hearing how he talked about his bike. It reminded me about how we all focus on nutrition in CrossFit, it takes that intimate knowledge of what you’re “fueling” yourself with in order to really hit full stride in performance.

When all is good, you can usually tell. When things don’t go as planned, or you slack on your maintenance (a bad weekend of eating, for example) you can usually tell that, too!

I hope you like the video.

I grew up with a family full of surfers. One of my cousins travels all over the world to surf some of the best waves out there. I have never known anyone crazy enough to try this, though.

This stuff is absolutely breathtaking.

(p.s.- Slow Motion makes everything cooler. Everything.)

Here’s the text that accompanies the video from Chris Bryan’s Vimeo profile:

“This day at Teahupoo- Aug 27th 2011 during the Billabong Pro waiting period is what many are calling the biggest and gnarliest Teahupoo ever ridden. Chris Bryan was fortunate enough to be there working for Billabong on a day that will go down in the history of big wave surfing. The French Navy labeled this day a double code red prohibiting and threatening to arrest anyone that entered the water.
Kelly Slater described the day by saying “witnessing this was a draining feeling being terrified for other people’s lives all day long, it’s life or death. Letting go of that rope one time can change your life and not many people will ever experience that in their life.”

****NOTE*****
Within the hour that I posted the video, it vanished from the page! The link below does take you to another version of it, though. Sorry for the confusion!

More Surfing Videos

My buddy Chris posted this on Facebook today, and I started off feeling pretty “blah” about the video. Sure, I’ve never gone skydiving. Sure, I will at some point in my life, and I DO think it’s really cool. But it just didn’t hit me right away.

But then I stopped and thought about WHAT these guys are doing; Falling through the air performing amazing choreography. The precision required to practice some of these moves is INCREDIBLE. Remember that part about them free-falling through the sky? Yeah, I guess I did for a second.

So for the last 3/4 of the video I just sat with my jaw open. This is really cool stuff!!

Another awesome version of this video! The music makes it even more “epic”.

(Even cooler since they are pulling from a lot of the videos I’ve posted over the past few months!)

I hope that everyone has been truly enjoying their holiday season so far.

It’s been really exciting for me because I’ve been working on getting some pretty major projects together (mostly with Renegade Fitness)! If all goes well, it’s going to be a VERY exciting year. 🙂

I’m not the only one out there working on big projects, though. Check out the crew at Red Bull, and their work on this year’s incredible New Year’s Eve stunt. I think it’s been proven, scientifically, that the guys who undertake these type of stunts have something not quite right upstairs… and I believe it.

But there is NO denying that they are incredible athletes with NO “Off” switch!

Here’s to wishing them the absolute best on the perfectly-timed (and safely executed) jump in a few days! Awesomeawesomeawesome!

Planning for the event:

The Dirt Bike side of the jump:

The Snowmobile side (including what happened last year when they tried):

Just over a month ago I wrote a post that included some beatboxing and some dancing. I like this kind of stuff, and hoped some of you would, too!

The final video on that page was one of my favorite things I’ve seen in some time… (yep, the Pumped Up Kicks video)

Marquese Scott, the dancer, did it again. Some of these moves are UNREAL.
