The “Moment of Awesomeness” posts so far in 2012 have been all over the place, and I love it! Snowmobiles, Dirt Bikes, Pogo Sticks, Yoga … The best part is, the variety isn’t going to stop soon!
I hope you guys like this stuff. I know I do!
(A shout-out to Red Bull for sharing so many of these awesome videos with the world!)
Back on December 26th, I created a post talking about Red Bull’s big show they had planned for New Year’s Eve. If you missed it, check out that post by clicking here!
Now it’s time to show you guys the finished product. Did Levi and Robby make THE JUMP!? Find out!!
I hope that everyone has been truly enjoying their holiday season so far.
It’s been really exciting for me because I’ve been working on getting some pretty major projects together (mostly with Renegade Fitness)! If all goes well, it’s going to be a VERY exciting year. 🙂
I’m not the only one out there working on big projects, though. Check out the crew at Red Bull, and their work on this year’s incredible New Year’s Eve stunt. I think it’s been proven, scientifically, that the guys who undertake these type of stunts have something not quite right upstairs… and I believe it.
But there is NO denying that they are incredible athletes with NO “Off” switch!
Here’s to wishing them the absolute best on the perfectly-timed (and safely executed) jump in a few days! Awesomeawesomeawesome!
Planning for the event:
The Dirt Bike side of the jump:
The Snowmobile side (including what happened last year when they tried):
One of them would kick the ball up behind his neck, drop down to the ground and start doing push-ups without the ball falling…. blindfolded. So many fun memories!
I like to make myself think I’m an adrenaline junkie, but if we’re being honest here, I just kind of WISH I was one. When it comes to snowboarding, merely looking over a cornice makes my heart jump into my throat. Rock climbing? No thanks, I’m pretty sure I’m scared of heights. Skydiving is on my “bucket list”, but then again, why would I jump out of a perfectly good plane? 🙂
That being said, I absolutely love watching OTHER people do these incredible feats (as you’ve surely noticed by almost all of my “Moment of Awesomeness” posts on this blog).
For today’s segment, I am going to combine TWO things that I love. For the personal side of it, I’m 100% Brazilian, and going back there to visit my family in Rio de Janeiro is one of my favorite things in the world to do. Then we’ll take the adrenaline junkie poser in me, and throw in some Rock Climbing.
The Pou Brothers, who are some of the most skilled and famous climbers in the world, have scaled some of the biggest and baddest mountainsides across the planet. For this video from Red Bull, they climb two of Brazil’s most famous landmarks: Corcovado, where the Cristo Redentor statue stands, (Christ the Redeemer) and Pao de Acucar (Sugarloaf).
It makes me miss my family…. and want to throw up from nerves just WATCHING them.
It’s basically ski/snowboard season, so I’m going to be posting more stuff like this on the blog. Prepare yourselves!
Some of you may have seen the interview that my buddy Jack at Apres Powder did with me on how to best prepare for the Winter Sports season. Well that was the first event that got me jazzed to shred. The second, was seeing the Red Bull Media House and Brain Farm Cinema film The Art of FLIGHT… TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW for the premiers here in Denver/Boulder.
And then getting a photo op with the one and only TRAVIS RICE! (Who is the best snowboarder in the world.)
Me, T-Rice, Rejalicious and Peter
Needless to say, I’m pretty stoked for that first powder day. My buddy Josh isn’t helping too much, by posting stuff like the video below, either! I may be a snowboarder, but even those two-plankers like Bobby Brown can pull some jaw-dropping stuff. Check it out, and enjoy!
This week, our Moment of Awesomeness posts are going all over the place. In fact, we’re going to go from the dirt, to the snow, to the city streets. I hope you guys like the series over the next three days!
First is a video I know I’ve shared before, but now it’s been added to my “favorites” on my Smashby Training YouTube page for easy access whenever!
As far as I’m concerned, these incredible athletes look like they’re 12 years old… but there is NO question that these guys are amazing at what they do! Enjoy.
Then there’s video, and with how EPIC some of these hits are, I’m shocked it doesn’t have more views. Some of this stuff is insane!
As beautiful as that video was, these extreme athletes don’t always get it right the first time. Check out the trailer for the video “Dust and Bones” that was released on the Red Bull YouTube page a few years back. The description of the video is one of my favorite parts:
“Brought to you by our friends at Freeride Entertainment, the trailer for the latest NWD film will probably give you a concussion.”
I have never learned how to ride a motorcycle. In fact, if my memory serves me right, I’ve never even been ON a motorcycle as an adult.
But watching these dudes at the X-Games do things like this is UNREAL! I don’t know how you even start THINKING about these trips, but Bravo to these amazing riders. This stuff is cool.
