Go Ahead and re-read this post from last week… then look at the BOTTOM of the page.

Matt Chan is made to look like a tortoise… (haha, just kidding. But check it out!!)

WHAT?!?!?

***************************************

One of my favorite weight lifting exercises is the Clean and Jerk.

It should be no coincidence, then, that one of my favorite CrossFit workouts is Grace:
30 Clean and Jerks at 135lbs for time.

My Personal Record in this workout is 2:28, and a goal of mine before the end of the year is to get under 2:15. With a WOD that short, it seems to me that a 15 second improvement would be pretty significant.

Well, after the 2:15 milestone, the next goal of mine was to break 2:00 at some point. In my opinion, your Grace time is only considered “good” when you can get it under 2:00. Most really strong CrossFitters are between 1:35-1:45.

Then there’s Matt Chan from CrossFit Verve here in Denver. That’s all I’ll say….

Ok. I’ll say one more thing.

HE GETS A 1:16!?!?!? Are you kidding me?!

(thanks for sharing this, Cheez)

Dan Bailey…. 1:02 GRACE. 1 Minute. And 2 Seconds.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on this blog, but quite frankly, I’ve been kind of uninspired lately.

Not in life, life has been nuts as usual and exciting… just on the blog.

I never want to post something “just to post” it. Today, however, I’m feeling inspired!
It’s good to be back, too.

Check out this video from Red Bull! It’s from the “Freestyle Football Qualifier – Red Bull Street Style Rio de Janeiro“. This video reminds me 100% of growing up and visiting my family down in Rio. I had some cousins who did RIDICULOUS things with a soccer ball.

One of them would kick the ball up behind his neck, drop down to the ground and start doing push-ups without the ball falling…. blindfolded. So many fun memories!

Again Faster Competition WOD #2
“Camille”
As Many Rounds As Possible in 8 Minutes of:
3 Snatch Complexes @ 125#
3 Wall Climbs

I would be lying if I said I was excited to get to this workout, but I’m not going to sit here and make excuses for why it was so challenging for me (mostly since that is a heavy weight for me to rep out). INSTEAD, I’m going to share two POSITIVE take-aways from the experience! Trust me, it makes me feel a lot better when I pick the positives out of situations. Try it sometime 🙂

1- I didn’t miss a single rep of the Snatch Complex!
2- I love the lift the “Snatch”, and this workout gave me the opportunity to improve my hang squat snatch under fatigue at a heavy weight! Who’s getting stronger!

BOOM!

Final Score:
26
(That’s 4 complete rounds + 2 Snatch Complex reps)

Chiggity Check It! Post your thoughts either in the comments section of this post, on Facebook or on the actual video. I’ll get it, regardless!

Happy Tuesday!

As I’ve said for the past few weeks, the Renegade Fitness Crew has been DOING WORK these past few weeks to get some new products in the shop for all of you!

We have had to Re-Order our “High Altitude” Colorado R T-Shirts TWICE already thanks to the demand you’ve all put on them, which has made our summer! Then, the request for Fight Shorts was made, and we put them out on Pre-Order.

I’m happy to announce that we’ve received the shorts, and they’ll be printed next week!!

Another product that you’ve all asked for was some headbands. Guess what?

They’re in!!!

CrossFit, Smashby Training, Renegade Fitness, Renegade Headbands, CrossFit Headbands

Renegade Fitness Headbands!

We hope you guys like them, we’re stoked to see them in person!

Over the next week or two there will also be some exciting product updates for all of you, too. Thanks so much for your continued support, and as always, provide us any feedback with what you think of our gear!

Check out Renegade on Facebook for more frequent updates!

Boomsauce in your facehole. Smashby, out.

I got this video from a buddy of mine, and had to share it with you guys. For those of you who have had the distinct privilege of visiting me in one of my apartments, one theme has been consistent: Boxes.

I’m a bit (understatement) of a “Pack Rat”, and believe it or not, it’s getting MUCH better every time I move. BUT…. it still needs to be addressed on a much larger scale.

The Thought of the Day for this Friday afternoon:

With MOST things in life, can “Less” truly = “More”?

Let me know what you think.

This post will not be part of a series. I just wanted to be one of the first to pass it along.

The moral of the story. PLEASE try CrossFit instead of a TV infomercial product! That is, unless you want to Slap Chop your way to a healthier lifestyle… then I approve. Now it’s time to get to business.

Ok, we all know about the Shake Weight, right?

“This is not a workout. This is a revolution. This is Shake Weight for Men. And it’s going to Kick. Your. Butt.”

Well, some of us were lucky enough to see the commercial for the Free Flexor.

“This is not an ordinary workout. This is not boring. This you will not soon forget.”

NOW…… forget it. Just watch for yourself.

Today’s “Thought of the Day”:

Live an EPIC life.

The bro’s over at LifeAsRx shared this video today, and it made me think a lot. For one, I love doing fun things with fun people! I also love doing crazy things with fun people. Basically, I enjoy living a life that is not plain jane, if you will.

I would like my life to be LESS:

SOOO…. when I saw the video below, it pretty much blew my mind.

CrossFit, Smashby Training, amazement

Say Whhhhaaaaaa????

(photo from this place)

This is my informal announcement that I am going to start doing more epic things in my life! So many people are talking about how short life is, and making the most of every day. I think I do a lot of pretty awesome things, but not enough! 🙂

Giddy-Up, world. Let’s do this.

SKI SEASON IS HERE!!!!!! I can’t believe it, but Arapahoe Basin opens TODAY!!! Sure the base is only 18″, but you need to start somewhere!

That being said, let’s take a collective moment of silence and pray that the snow gods look down on us favorably this year! Jack from Apres Powder shared this video that shows what I can only call “STUPID POWDER” from the crew at Salomon Freeski TV.

I should have my Season Pass within the week (What up, Epic Pass Local!) and when that day comes, it’s on.
The goal is to hit my first tracks by mid-to-late-November. (Too many CrossFit events between now and then, which I am NOT complaining about!)

Lindsey Smith is amazing.

Yeah, that’s the thought of the day.

Ok, fine… the real thought is about dedication. I can promise you Lindsey wasn’t able to just walk in the door of her CrossFit gym on day one and complete this movement. In fact, I’d like to guess that MOST CrossFitters aren’t able to do what she just did. Not only a single strict muscle-up, but THREE in a row!

Dedication comes in many ways in regards to CrossFit.
~ How often and how smart you’re willing to train your BODY
~ How often and how smart you’re willing to train your MIND
~ Your willingness to focus the necessary time on flexibility and mobility work
~ Taking your diet into account and realizing that food can (should?) be used as FUEL
~ Resting when necessary so your body can recover and come back even stronger
~ the list goes on…

Like I say, CrossFit can be more than just 1 hour of working out a few times a week. How important is it for you to continually improve?
