Well, we tried, guys. Thanks for coming out!

Yes, I am one of those CrossFit athletes who has had a serious mancrush on Dmitry Klokov for some time. However, a 418lb. (190kg) THRUSTER!?!
Get out of town.

These videos don’t need any explanation. There are some freaks of nature out there, though.
The first featured video comes from Ben Smith’s personal YouTube channel, and the second comes from the CrossFitHQ YouTube Channel.

Ben Smith has been featured many times on my blog, and will likely podium at the 2013 CrossFit Games. He’s an absolute machine.

I don’t know who Misiovala Tupe from CrossFit Dixie is, but I also want him on my team.

Rob Orlando (Owner of Hybrid Athletics) has been featured on my blog before for his feats of superhuman strength. In this video, he performs the CrossFit Football workout Kalsu (named after Robert James Kalsu, an Army LT who was killed by mortar fire on July 21,1970 at Firebase Ripcord near the Ashau Valley).

If you know anything about CrossFit Hero workouts, they are true tests of will to complete. Their purpose is to remember those who gave their lives and show our appreciation for their service by completing a workout in their honor. These are not regular workouts.

Kalsu, for example, is “prescribed” as:

“On the minute:
Complete 5 burpees and perform max rep 135 lbs thrusters on the minute.

The goal is to complete 100 total thrusters.
*At the beginning of every minute perform 5 burpees, for the rest of the minute perform as many thrusters as you can during that minute. At the beginning of the next minute perform 5 burpees and then max rep thrusters and so on until you reach 100 total thrusters.”

Yeah, no joke. Rob Orlando decides to attempt this workout with not the prescribed 135lbs, but 225lbs instead. Unreal. Although he gives himself a 20 minute time cap, and actually does not complete the workout in that time, you can still see the amazing push he gives and the incredible strength this man possesses. I was inspired.

R.I.P., Kalsu.

This video does not need very much introduction, so let’s keep it short and sweet.

Chris Tefft (which I am only guessing is his name due to the YouTube “tags” below the video), comes to us live and direct from CrossFit CBD in Melbourne… and he is a BEAST. Hey, Drew-Tang, you’re next. Where’s your response video?

These pistol, or one-legged, squats he does are INSANE! Enjoy.

It’s been a LONG time since I’ve posted anything, but life has been pretty crazy lately.
However, I have been asked by a few people lately when “the blog is coming back”, so the fact that other people out there want to see more stuff also makes me more inclined to post again. The biggest reason for this post, though, is because of something that happened at CrossFit Lakewood last week.

It felt like the first time we had worked up to one-rep maxes in a while, and the lift of the day was deadlift. I was only there for 2 classes of the day, but the amount of PR’s I saw were incredible! I LOVE seeing people accomplish something for the first time, and there was no shortage of that!

I apologize for not even capturing everyone’s PR’s, but please know that the coaches are so proud of you guys and gals! Keep up the inspiring work, everyone.

(In case you end up not watching the video… SPOILER ALERT – It ends with CC pulling SIX HUNDRED AND FIVE POUNDS!!!)

There are some people out there who are very strong. That’s really all I want to say about this clip.

Based on the video title, I would guess that he is working with 205 kilos. (aka 451 pounds… haha… yes, I’m serious.)

Look at how HIGH that bar gets in his “pocket” before he jumps!
Then this clown decides to push PRESS the barbell overhead before jerking it?!

Love watching dudes like this. Pretty motivating.
(thanks to Keith from CrossFit Virtuosity for posting this on FB)

Yesterday was our very own Alon’s birthday! Alon has done more in the last 6-8 months to inspire everyone around him (myself most DEFINITELY included) than, probably, anyone else I know.

His dedication to his fitness, his diet and his CONSTANTLY positive and motivated attitude is just an absolute joy to be around… 100% of the time.

Oh. He’s also getting pretty strong, too.

Yesterday, on his 29th birthday, he did a little bit of Shoulder Press.

He put up 170lbs… twice… in a row.

(If you think that since his feet moved so it doesn’t count…. shut up.) 🙂

Alon definitely qualifies for BEAST MOOODE!!

Josh Everett will forever be, in my mind, one of the Original CrossFit Firebreathers. I’ve have the amazing privilege of meeting him and having a conversation with him during the 2010 CrossFit/USAW event, and to top it all off, he is one of the nicest guys out there, too!

SIDENOTE: At that event, I was lucky enough to watch him and Dave Lipson go head-to-head in the classic “Isabel-Off”. Two athletes who know what BEASTMODE really means! That’s 135lbs on those bars… and they make it look like a PVC pipe!
(I was in the front row and took this video of it on my iPhone)

Anyways, back to Josh and his Beastmode. Check out this video where he talks about his entire approach to CrossFit. Warm-Up, approach to workouts, “that extra gear” that separates really good athletes from the one who “have it”…. This video makes me so happy. Inspiring words from an inspiring dude.

Does this help anyone else out there?

Chris Spealler is one of my favorite CrossFitters out there. I’ve met him a few times, and he has to be one of the nicest guys in CrossFit, too.
One of the coolest parts of this video, to me, is the story behind it (which I copied from the video’s page):

“I have known Chris for a long time and the one thing that stands out from his character is passion. This was a Christmas gift to Chris from his bro-in-law. Never give up!”

Those of you who train at CrossFit Lakewood, don’t need me to tell you about Alon.
He is the man, right?

Well, tonight, this dude decides to hit a 235 pound Front Squat. For TWO reps.

Not bad for only doing CrossFit for a few months. And by “not bad”, I mean:

Alon, you are an animal.
